Tim Duncan Weighing his Options for His Final Year Contract

Tags

It seems like Tim Duncan is heading the same road as Carmelo Anthony. Anthony has opted to use his early termination option from his contract to the New York Knicks. He chose to get out of the $23.5 million deal for the 2014-'15 seasons. On the other hand, Duncan is thinking of using his final year option but not to retire. Other says that the change can be purely financial, but having known Tim, he is not the type to pursue change due to money. The 2014-15 season will be Duncan's 18 NBA Season and if he still pursues an NBA career, he will be turning 39 years old in the first week of the playoffs.

Timothy Theodore "Tim" Duncan has always played for the San Antonio Spurs ever since his debut in the NBA. The 38 year old US Virgin Island lad played for the Spurs either as power forward or center. He is considered to be one of the most decorated players of NBA yet is less being talked about. He is a five-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP, and NBA Rookie of the Year. But this 6-foot 11-inch giant seems expert in keeping a low profile.

But it isn't just Duncan's contract that would be looking into their contract for 2015. Tony Parker's contract will end at the summer of 2015 as well as Manu Ginobili and three more Spurs player. On the other hand, 2014 NBA MVP, Kawhi Leonard, will be having his contract extended this offseason.

Duncan is considered to be a veteran in the NBA. He has already surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most minutes played in the playoffs and Magic Johnson for most double-doubles with 158. Aside from that, the big three of Parker, Ginobili and Duncan has been together long enough to break the record for most wins in NBA Playoffs history. Right after their 2014 NBA Finals win, Duncan has yet made another mark in the NBA being the only players to win the Finals in three different decades aside from John Salley. Indeed Duncan has come a long way in achieving his dreams in the NBA yet remains humble all throughout.
