As if banning him was not enough, FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke advised Suarez to seek professional help. Aside from that, the General Secretary also confirmed that his previous biting incident was also put into consideration during their decision over the incident.
The Uruguay forward has been banned for four months and won't be able to play for 9 international games which would exceed the 4 months ban. Aside from this, he is not allowed to enter any FIFA Stadium to watch game s and won't be able to join pactice as well. To top it off, he has also been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (around £66,000).
According to FIFA Spokesperson "The player Luis Suarez is banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) for a period of four months. A stadium ban is pronounced against the player Luis Suarez in accordance with article 21 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code as follows: the player Luis Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium during the period of the ban."
The Disciplinary board added "The player Luis Suarez is prohibited from entering the confines of any stadium in which the representative team of Uruguay is playing while he has to serve the nine-match suspension. The player Luis Suarez is ordered to pay a fine in the amount of 100,000 Swiss Francs."
When Valcke was asked to comment regarding the verdict made by the FIFA Disciplinary board, he answered that he applauded the decisions saying "I think he should find a way to stop doing it. He should go through a treatment. I don't know if one exists but he should do something for himself because it is definitely wrong." He continued "If it's the first time it's an incident, if it starts to be more than once it is not an incident. That is why the sanction has to be exemplary."
On the other hand, Giorgio Chiellini, the Italian who got bitten by Suarez feels differently over the Suarez's verdict. He said he found the punishment excessive and posted his thoughts on his official website, he said "Now inside me there's no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident that happened on the pitch and that's done. There only remain the anger and the disappointment about the match."
The message continued "At the moment my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period. I have always considered unequivocal the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team mates during the games because such a ban is really alienating for a player."
It seemed like FIFA got their hands tied over this ruckus.
