"American Hustle" star Amy Adams tried to quietly do a good deed during her early-morning flight from Detroit to Los Angeles, Friday. The star gave up her cozy first class seat for the coach booking of a US soldier in the Delta flight.

"I didn't do it for attention for myself," she answered when the Inside Edition asked her as soon as she landed in LA. "I did it for attention for the troops."

Adams has been speaking about her father's time in the military in interviews about her personal life. She, herself, was born on a US base in Italy and grew up in another in Colarado.

Inside Edition reports that the actress had already noticed the serviceman at the boarding gate and had asked a flight attendant to make the swap. Passengers of the DL1706 Delta flight saw what Adams did and watched her silently move to her seat in coach, The Daily Mail reports.

ESPN reporter, Jemele Hill, was one of the passengers on the plane. She took to Twitter that morning and shared the Oscar nominee's generous gesture.

"Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her first class seat to an American soldier. I'm an even bigger fan now," Hill posted on Twitter.

"I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams' seat. She was no longer in it, but it was pretty clear that she'd given up her seat for him," she told ABC later on. ""I was incredibly impressed, and I'm not even sure if the soldier knew who gave him that seat. I guess he will now!"

That seatmate was Huffington Post journalist, Ernest Owens, who also posted about the deed on Twitter. Adams even posed for a selfie with her new seatmate.

The actress was filming "Superman VS Batman: Dawn Of Justice" with Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman in the Motor City. The movie is a sequel for last year's "The Man Of Steel" where she plays Lois Lane.
