Despite USA's defeat against Germany 1 - 0 at Arena Pernambuco in Recife Thursday, the team advances to the round of 16.

Germany topped Group G with 7 points while USA and Portugal are tied with 4 points. However, USA finishes second as they have a higher goal difference compared to Portugal, which allowed them to secure a place in the next round of the tournament.

Thomas Muller rallies Germany to victory once again as he scores a point on the second half of the match as he attacks with a right-footed shot on the 55th - minute mark.

Meanwhile, USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who was also a player in 1990 World Cup winner West Germany, encouraged USA to support their team by posting a "get out of work letter" in Twitter.

As mentioned in BBC Sports, an excerpt of Klinsmann's letter says: "I understand that this absence may reduce the productivity of your workplace but I can assure you that it's for an important cause."

On the other hand, Thomas Muller is prepared for the following match against Algeria. "We are ready for the knockout stage. We keep working hard and we are full of team spirit," says Muller in CBC Sports.

Germany will be pitted against Group H's second-place finisher Algeria, who knocked out Russia with a tie 1 - 1, at Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre on Monday while USA will face Belgium at Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador on Tuesday.
