Robert Downey Jr. is no stranger to the world of drugs.
It seems that his son might have been introduced to the dark world as well as he was arrested Sunday afternoon in West Hollywood for cocaine possession, according to the NY Daily News.
"The deputy drove up near him and saw him using a cocaine pipe. That was the reason for the stop. He was the front-seat passenger," stated Sgt. Dave Valentine.
Robert Downey Jr's son, Indio Downey, was allegedly in a car with two other people when the vehicle was pulled over, according to Us Magazine.
The actor's 20-year-old son was released on Sunday evening after posting $10,000 bail.
The 49-year-old "Iron Man" star has dealt with cocaine addition and substance abuse, including heroin, in the past. He's reportedly been in and out of prison before following a court-ordered drug treatment program, which finally got him to sobriety.
Downey released a statement to the Daily News on Monday regarding his son's recent arrest.
"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," stated the "Avengers" actor.
He added, "Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."
