Brazil World Cup 2014 News: South Korea Players Receive Candy Insult Instead Of Hero's Welcome

After 'doing their best' for the World Cup 2014 in Brazil, the South Korean football team at least expected a warm welcome from their fellow Asians, but they have been greeted by bitter groups of Asian football instead.

The Korea Republic team has been greeted by fans throwing toffees at them as they had photo opportunites in the Incheon airport. The term "go eat a toffee" is popular insult in South Korea which means something like, "get lost" or "screw you."

Disappointed fans were heard shouting "eat yeot," which is a common curse in the country. Other banners read, "Korean soccer is dead!"

The team performed poorly in their matches against: Russia, which ended in a 1-1 draw; Algeria, which ended in a loss at 4-2; and Belgium, which ended in a 0-1 loss. They were only able to garner a grand total of one point from all their matches, hitting their all time low since 1990, which is 24 years ago.

"I am sorry that we weren't able to return the love and support shown by our people during the World Cup," South Korea coach Hong Myunbg-bo said to a local newspaper, the Korea Herald.

"It was due to my deficiency as a coach that we didn't put up the desired results. But our players all have a bright future ahead and not everything was lost from this tournament," he added.

Moreover, there were no Asian teams to qualify for the Konck out Round. Japan, Iran, and Australia also went home early after having defeated too in their respective groups.

Some infamous World Cup homecomings are also as follows: In 1966, the Italy football team has been thrashed with tomatos upon their arrival. Also, in 1954, the Hungary team had to hide from the public in Tata for a long time to avoid rebellions in the lanes of Budapest.
