Brazil triumphs over Chile after a grueling 120 minutes of play time as the game is concluded 3 - 2 after a series of penalties at Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte Saturday.

Belo Horizonte was screaming in a sea of yellow as fans cheered on for the host country's team, which was further intensified as the winning team has to be decided through penalty kicks as the game ended 1 - 1, even through an additional 30 - minute extension.

Brazil initially takes the lead as David Luis strikes with a close-range attack on the 18th - minute mark of the match.

However, Chile immediately catches up even before the end of the first half of the match as Alexis Sanchez equalizes the game with a right-footed shot through an assist by Eduardo Vargas on the 32nd - minute mark.

Both sides fought equally as Brazil and Chile attempted to outscore each other. However, Chile's tough defenses prevented the host team from taking the lead, ending the game 1 - 1 at full time. Still, the additional 30 - minute extension was not enough to decide the winner of the match, which led to the series of enthralling penalty kicks from Brazil and Chile.

David Luiz and Marcelo takes two points for Brazil on the first two rounds of penalties. Nevertheless, Chile attempts to catch up once more as Charles Aranguiz and Marcelo Diaz equalizes the score as they secure the third and fourth round of the penalties.

Neymar, Brazil's star player, takes the lead for the team as he wins the penalty through a right-footed shot. Chile fails to equalize the score as Gonzalo Jara misses the penalty as he hits the right post with a right-footed shot, ending the match 3 - 2.

David Luiz commends Neymar's performance in the match on an interview in CBC Sports: "Neymar is a great player. He brought back the magic of the Brazilian player. He's letting us dream about having a Brazilian as the best player in the world again."

Brazil now moves on to the quarterfinals, facing Colombia at Estado Castelao in Fortaleza on Friday.
