Despite the defeat against Brazil in the World Cup on Tuesday, Tim Howard was named as the man of the match. The athlete had shown a magnificent game play-leaping, diving, and flying through the air as he was the USA team's goalkeeper. However, these tactics were powerless and did not prevent Belgium from winning the match which sent the Americans home from Brazil.

"None of that really matters to me," Howard said. "It is part of the job. It hurts when we lose, whether I had no saves or 20 saves, it doesn't mean any more or less." he added.

He earned the recognition after his 16 saves during the match against Belgium-which makes the most of the record in the World Cup. Regardless of being in the losing team, Howard was able to be the third man to win the title Man of the Match due to his spectacular and beastly performance. If USA's football team were to blame because of lack of natural talent, Tim Howard was a standout exception.

"Huge," said defender Matt Besler, when asked about Howard. "He is our backbone. It is nice as a defender when you know you have that behind you."

The head coach Jurgen Klinsmann averred that Howard was one of the best five goalkeepers in the world however subjective the taste and preferences of every individual for the athlete's skills are phenomenal and that assertion would be hard to argue about.

"The way Tim played tonight was just phenomenal, just outstanding," Klinsmann said. "He kept us in the game a long time."
