BBC One tweeted what all "Sherlock" fans have been waiting to hear; the series will be making a comeback.

The channel started off by tweeting "Did you miss me?" along with a GIF of Andrew Scott as Moriarty from the last episode of season 3. An hour later, BBC One wrote, "It's all gone dark. . . Something's coming. . . Or someone. Details at 2.21 pm tomorrow."

The network then revealed that a special episode will launch the new installments of the hit series, then followed by three episodes for season 4, according to CBS News.

Shooting on the special will start in January 2015, with season 4 of the series shooting later next year, according to Deadline.com.

"We're ready to unleash the most shocking and surprising series of #Sherlock yet. The only thing to expect is the unexpected. . . ," stated BBC One today.

"It's taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs. But there was unanimous goodwill to make this work so we're thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again," stated Sue Verture, executive producer at Hartswood Films.

"Sherlock" fans should be expecting only the best for season 4 as well as the upcoming special.

"A special, plus a new series of three episodes - it's a record breaking run!! Of course, it's far too early to say what's coming, but we're reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you'd expect. . ." stated co-creator, writer and executive producer Steven Moffat.
