Even though the USA team lost to Belgium in 2-1 last Tuesday, the name Tim Howard is quickly making up its way into the American soccer hall of fame.
After making 16 incredible saves amid the string Belgian defense, the goal keeper, Tim Howard has won the fans of many. And this is how much they love him.
Howard's fans just recently made a White House petition to rename the old Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport after the stellar player. Also, a second petition wants him to be named as the country's Secretary of Defense.
Clearly, he is some sort of a hero to the nation.
The petition read, "Whereas Tim Howard has shown himself to be a national treasure, Minister of Defense, Friend of Joe Biden, and the holder for the record of most saves in a World Cup match, therefore, we politely request that we rename the airport to recognize his accomplishments, and meritorious service to the United States of America."
Thanks to the "We the People" campaign, anyone can post a petition to Obama administration, but only those who garnered 100,000 signatures will be taken a formal response.
So far, the first petition already has 7,000 lasy Wednesday afternoon. It has until the 31st of July to complete one hundred thousand.
On the other hand, the second petition read, "We, the undersigned, hereby petition for the appointment of Timothy Matthew "Tim" Howard, Goalkeeper and MVP of the USMNT, king of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, to the office of U.S. Secretary of Defense for acts of valor and general badassery during the 2014 World Cup."
This petition has 430 signatures last Wednesday afternoon.
The White House press secretary joked around and said, "I don't have any personnel announcements to make," when asked about Howard's position to the office.
