It was a tough game for Andy Murray as the reigning Wimbledon Champion lost to the Bulgarian 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov. It was a stunning match between Murray and Dimitriv which ended on a 6-1, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 victory during the quarter finals match of the Wimbledon. Dimitrov has become the first man from Bulgaria to reach a Grand Slam semifinal.
According to the 23 year old Dimitrov "I am excited and happy to win through in straight sets. It's never easy against Andy in front of his home crowd but today I was fortunate. The first set I had good rhythm and held my ground in the tie-break which was crucial and the third set I had it under control."
Murray on the other hand, was not on his top game during the match. According to Dimitrov "I sensed in the warm up that his game was not at the highest level but I was already confident I could play at a high level and play good tennis." He added "It helped a little bit. But a match is a different thing."
According to Murray during the post match interview "I have very good memories from that court out there. It's a special court for me. I mean, you can have bad days as an athlete. You don't win all of the time. Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin and move on." He added "Even when I wanted to get into longer rallies, I was missing shots. I was unable to make him work as hard as I needed to."
This is the first time that Murray lost to a seeder outside of the top 10. He had hoped to bag the Wimbledon Championship trophy in order to become the first British to win two Wimbledon on consecutive years.
On the other hand, Dimitrov who has been nicknamed as Baby Fed in reference to Roger Federer, appeared calm and collected during his match with the former Wimbledon Champion. Dimitrov, 23, will play top seed Novak Djokovic fighting for a place in the finals. Dimitrov has won the Boys' Singles titles at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships and the 2008 US Open.
