Novak Djokovic was having his game jitters when he started his match against Marin Čilić. It seemed like the number one seed was having troubles during the game and looked like he was about to lose his chance at the Wimbledon together with a lot of top ranking contenders who lost their matches. But the 27 year old Serbian professional tennis player did not loss hope. Right after changing his shoes, he was able to pull himself together and won the match with a 6-1 3-6 6-7(4) 6-2 6-2 final score securing a slot I the semi-finals.
With regards to his shoe change he said "After I changed my shoes in the fourth set I played well - I will keep them to play Grigor Dimitrov. t was a big win for Grigor. He's on fire this last six months ... he's not lost a match on grass this year. He's the man to beat."
It has been reported that Bulgarian 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov won his match against defending Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray on a 6-1, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 victory.
Djokovic had done well in the first set but lost his play during the next sets. According to him "We could hear the crowd during the match and it was a bit distracting; but no excuses, we had to concentrate. It was a tough five-setter. Coming in I knew Marin would play aggressively."
When asked about his opponent he answered "he raised his game but I allowed him to come back into it. I was too passive on my strokes and he used his opportunities, but I managed to find the right pace when I needed it."
Reporters asked about how he was able to overcome a jittery start on his match and he answered "I just held my composure in those moments when the match was going his way, especially when he won the third set." He added "I was frustrated with the fact that I hadn't used the opportunities that were presented, and also the fact that I allowed him to come back into the match."
"When you go through difficult moments, especially when you're two sets to one down, playing quarters of grand slams, it gets very emotional. You're fighting on the court as much as your opponent and you try to just mentally be strong and find that inner strength that can help you in those particular moments. That's what helped me."
