Bad news for Argentinean Basketball fans as sources says that it is unlikely for Manu Ginobili to join his Argentina Team in the FIBA Basketball World Cup this coming summer and this is due to a fracture in his right leg.
Previous report confirmed Ginobili's appearance to the FIBA Basketball World Cup this summer. He has confirmed his attendance in the 2014 FIBA World Cup under team Argentina through social media stating "Estoy adentro! See you in Spain 2014!"
He started his professional career in basketball in 1995 when he started playing at the Argentine basketball league for the Andino Sport Club team of La Rioja. From there on he has played with Estudiantes de Bahía Blanca (Argentina) then transferred to Viola Reggio Calabria (Italy) until he reached NBA in 2002 and signed up for San Antonio Spurs. Up until now he remains loyal to San Antonio Spurs.
Ginobili didn't have a good year last 2013. It has been reported that he has suffered a lot of minor setbacks and health issues. He was physically and emotionally drained from joining the international completion and playing full time in NBA.
The 36 year old Euroleague Finals MVP was diagnosed with early stages of a stress fracture right after his exit physical exams with the San Antonio Spurs. The injury developed late into the Spurs' championship games.
But fans still has a little bit of hope as the San Antonio star is planning on seeking a second opinion before making his final decision for this summer's league.
But in case the first results are validated, recovery for the said injury will take about two months which would have to ready for the start of training camp in late September.
Ginobili says that that his participation in this coming World Cup would largely depend on how good his legs would feels in the coming months. Still, he remains optimistic.
He posted the following message on his social media account "La lesión existe pero mi participación en el mundial dependerá de cuánto mejore en estos 20+ días. Sigo siendo optimista."
Even now, we know that Argentina is already proud of the NBA All-Star player's dedication to the Argentine men's national basketball team.
