28 year old point guard Kyle Lowry has agreed to stay with the Toronto Raptors under a 4 year contract worth 48 million dollars. The free agent has extended his contract with the Raptors with the fourth year of the contract at Lowry's option.

According to the Lowry "Toronto is just the right place for me." He has been considered as a cornerstone for the Raptors and has been the first priority of general manager Masai Ujiri in the off season. He will be signing his contract this coming July 10. Lowry will be receiving around 12 million per year which is quite a large amount but still worth it for a player who has been doing his job so well the last season.

They were talks that their team was expected to be the worst team after trading forward Rudy Gay but it seemed like it happened the other way around as they nearly reached the Eastern Conference semifinals before falling to Brooklyn in seven games.

Lowry started his NBA career as the 24th pick in the 2006 NBA draft by the Grizzlies. He stayed with the team until 2009 then moved on to join the Houston Rockets from 2009 til 2012. He then decided to take his game to Toronto from 2012 up to the present.

Currently, he is considered as the top point guard of his league and with All-Star DeMar DeRozan, they have led their guard tandem for the Raptors.

Lowry has been having a great time as a free agent. A lot of other team has showed their interest in him including Miami Heat and Houston Rockets.

On his second season with the Raptors, he has been drawing an average of 17.9 points, 7.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. He was the key player in bringing his team to the playoffs for the first time in five years.

Next season will be an exciting season for NBA as a lot of great players have been opting out of their contract and considering being a free agent. We will see what happens after a few months when the new season of NBA begins.
