Director Randall Miller and two producers of the movie "Midnight Rider" were charged with involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass following the on-set death of 27-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Jones, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Sarah Jones, a camera assistant, was killed on February 20 when she was struck by a train on the set of the Gregg Allman biopic.

"An indictment has been returned in Wayne Supreme Court charging Randall Miller, Jody Savin and Jay Sedrish with involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass," announced Jackie L. Johnson, a Brunswick Judicial Circuit district attorney, in a statement.

Johnson added, "Involuntary manslaughter carries a potential sentence of 10 years in prison under Georgia law. Criminal trespass is a misdemeanor and carries a potential sentence of 12 months."

Production on "Midnight Rider" has been stopped and has not resumed.

A wrongful-death lawsuit was reportedly filed in May by Sarah Jones' parents that listed, among others, Gregg Allman as one of the defendants.

William Hurt was one of the actors present at the time of the accident while Wyatt Russell, Charles S. Dutton, Zoey Deutch and Eliza Dushku were among the cast set for "Midnight Rider," according to Deadline.com.

According to an investigative report by the website, the crew waited for two trains to pass before they loaded a metal hospital bed onto the narrow bridge suspended over the river, and Hurt prepared to climb on top of it for the filming of a dream sequence.

When an unexpected third train approached, some members of the crew reportedly tried to move the bed and save the camera equipment, but were unable to. As the train hit the bed it shattered, sending metal debris everywhere.

"The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has been investigating the incident since February. Detective Joe Gardner presented the case to the Grand Jury on July 2, 2014. The District Attorney's office would like to thank Sheriff John Carter and his officers for their investigation. Because this is a pending case, this office cannot comment any further at this time," stated Johnson.
