Shakira, Carlo Santana and Wyclef Jean will dominate the front act of performances in the closing of the World Cup 2014 in Brazil on July 13. These performers come just in time after Jennifer Lopez made a headlining performance in the earlier part of the World Cup, gathering more spectators to view the historical game tournament in this wonderful country in South America.
The performance will be Shakira's third consecutive World Cup participation. She will kick off the show by singing "La la la (Brazil 2014)", duet with Brazilian star Carlinhos Brown, as per statement released by FIFA on Wednesday.
Santana, Wyclef and Brazilian performer Alexandre Pires will secondarily kick off the tournament, by singing the game's national anthem, "Dar Um Jeito" at the world-famous Maracana Stadium. Pires will do a local music duet with Brazilian star Ivete Sangalo.
"I'm thrilled to be performing my song 'La la la (Brazil 2014)' at the 2014 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony," Shakira told reporters, who gave birth to a son with Spain defender Gerard Pique.
She further added, "I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included."
Eight teams are up for battle in Marcana, which comes in coincidence with the announcement of the musical lineup. However, it's sad news for Spain as it is eliminated early on in the tournament.
Colombia will match up against Brazil in the quarter-final this coming Friday after the match between France and Germany has taken place.
