Carmelo Anthony wants Pau Gasol for Knicks

It seems like Melo wants Pau to be his pair. Hours before his final meeting with New York Knicks executive, the newly free agent has tried to ask for another free agents phone number and that is Pau Gasul. Presumable, Anthony wants to discuss the possibility of playing together at Madison Square Garden.

This boosted the confidence of the Knicks as they had been continuously courting the 30 year old forward. Knicks knows that Melo is being wooed by a lot of other teams such as Chicago and Houston but knowing that Melo talked to Gasol about playing in New York sounds encouraging to them.

In part of hiring Gasol, they believe that they stand a chance among other teams fighting for his attention. Knicks President Phil Jackson, coach Derek Fisher and point guard Jose Calderon have a strong relationship with Gasol and may be a great factor in having the 33 year old Spanish player on their team even though they can only pay him lesser than he expected.

Anthony had other offers coming from big teams in NBA. He found the presentation coming from Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets as tremendous. But the Knicks final words were important for the player. Anthony seems to enjoy the recruitment process of a free agent.

Gasol, on the other hand, has had a couple of teams showing interest in him. This includes Heat, Spurs, Bulls and Thunder but sources say that his final decisions will also be determined upon where Anthony will be signing. If this is the case, then there is much probability that where Anthony goes, Gasol thus follow and their team up seems to be a strong one.

When Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak was asked about his opinion on the matter he said "We're prepared. If any of those players do want to make a move, we're prepared. And if we get word, when we're allowed to get word, we will go all out."

Due to numerous offers, Anthony s expected to the weekend off in order to make a sound decision. That would give him enough time to think about the choices he has to make for his future career.
