LeBron James agent, Rich Paul has met with multiple franchises who are interested in signing the four-time MVP. Sources from ESPN have said that Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks already had a chance to present their offers to Paul in the past few days.
Another source states that Cleveland Cavaliers owner, Dan Gilbert, has either met James agent or will be meeting him soon also regarding picking James for his team.
It can be noted the Gilbert had ranted over James decisions to leave the Cavaliers in 2010.
"As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment."
To end his speech Gilber said "The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma."
Now that James is now a free agent and is available in the market, people are getting the impression that the Cavaliers are out to win the King back.
But it won't be easy as the Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak is also flying down to Cleveland to meet Paul.
Besides the Lakers, Suns owner Robert Sarver has also met with Paul on Wednesday and pitched the idea of signing James by trying to sign Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh as well.
James has already made it clear that he will enjoy the early part of his free agent status by going on a vacation with his family. Right after that, he plans on watching the World Cup final in Brazil on July 13. This would have to mean that his agent, Rich Paul is seeing team officials on his own.
James has also informed his agent that they would handle the process differently unlike in 2010 where James was in the frontline of the initial discussion. Now, he wants his agent to talk to the officials during the initial meeting. Both James and Paul are quiet these past few days not divulging any information with regards to his options as a free agent.
