The bridge connected the venue of the World Cup with with the international airport. It was located in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) that was customized ready for the World Cup. Chais gathered around the area of the accident.

"This is the incompetence of our authorities and our businesses," said Leandro Brito, 23, a bank employee, referring to the incident. "Because of the World Cup they sped everything up to finish faster. That's why this tragedy has happened. They are not making things properly. Everyone is very angry."
