Right after the TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao rematch has been made, the newly crowned champion has already made his statements, saying that he is not picky with his opponents.
"The Viper" spoke to FOX Sports right after the announcement of his second fight against Renan Barao was made. The two men are slated to face each other at UFC 177, which is scheduled for August 30th in Sacramento, California.
"I don't want to pick and choose," Dillashaw declared. "I don't want to be one of those diva champions."
The first TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao fight was considered to be one of the biggest upsets in mixed martial arts history. After a nine-year undefeated streak, the Brazilian went on to drop his title to "The Viper" after a devastating 5th round knockout loss at UFC 173 in May.
Being the dominant champion that he was, "The Baron" still attracts a huge enough fan base, especially among his fellow Brazilians. This is something "The Viper" is expecting as he heads for the upcoming TJ Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao fight.
"If he's the biggest draw, then let's bring it," Dillashaw continued. "Obviously I have the game plan to beat him and I have the skills to beat him. "
As a champion, TJ Dillashaw has yet to prove himself worthy of holding the title. His upcoming fight against Renan Barão will be his first title defense. But as a competitive being and one of the top athletes of Team Alpha Male, "The Viper" is not willing to hold back against anyone, even if it was going against teammate Urijah Faber.
"It's a crazy situation that we could be put in, but they want the drama behind the fights," Dillashaw said in his guesting at The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast. "Hey, if they're willing to shell out the cash maybe me and Urijah will have a smile on our face while fighting."
Unsurprisingly, he has maintained the same outlook in fighting.
"I want to fight whoever they throw at me," Dillashaw said. "I want to be the guy they can count on.
