Renowned entertainment correspondent and movie critic of ABC News David Blaustein wrote a movie review for "Earth To Echo" last July 4.

Wikipedia described the movie as a 2014 sci-fi adventure film. It was directed by Dave Green, and produced by Robbie Brenner and Andrew Panay.

The film was developed and shot by Disney, but they soon sold the rights. It was distributed by Relativity Media and was released in theaters on July 2, 2014.

The Review

David Blaustein said that "Earth to Echo" is an ambitious, low-budget sci-fi film that tries, or aiming to be the new millennium's version of "ET."

From the point of view of the writer, it didn't achieve the goal.

"Earth to Echo''s" plot focus on a group of tween boys in a small town in Nevada. The town is scheduled to be demolished to make way for a highway.

Later, something strange is happening to the boys' mobile phones as they stop working. Each of their home screen have been replaced by maps.

Majority of them agree to spend their final night together before they all move away from the town. Going back to the strange mobile phone map, the strange thing on their mobile phones will lead them into something way beyond their fertile imaginations, which is an adorable alien that's a cross between "WALL-E" and Bubo, Perseus', a mechanical owl from the original "Clash of the Titans."

Every plot twist is predictable, however, David Blaustein said that he will refrain from any major spoilers except to say the boys and a young lady from their school will try to help the alien they call Echo to return home before the government can get its hands on it.

He still stand of his opinion that this film is unapologetic for exerting efforts to be like "ET,".

For kids' point of view, it is cute and the quest for a little independence and empowerment surely resonate with a younger audience.

The movie critic also mentioned that this film lacks emotional impact because of the writing, and poor character development and acting.

Overall, for him, "Earth to Echo" is completely innocuous. Kids will enjoy it, but it is boring for the adults.
