It was a clash worth watching between Brazil and Colombia as they battled their way through the quarter finals in order to land a spot to the semis. Both teams had strong offense and defense which made the game thrilling and exciting from both ends. The match kicks off with an early goal coming from 29 year old Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, who came from the back of Neymar as the latter had the ball at the corner but was missed by Luis and Yepes. Silva was able to tap the said ball for an easy goal. From then on, the team managed to secure another goal.
The Selecao took control of the game having been able to secure another shot at the 69th minute via their vice captain David Luiz. On the other hand James Rodriguez, the Colombian super star managed to sneak a strong goal for Colombia during the last few seconds of the game. The match ended with a 2-1 result in favor of Brazil.
But right after the victory and the sure seat at the semis, Brazil will have to face another predicament for their next game.
During their match against Colombia, Brazil Captain, Thiago Silva was given a yellow card after fouling David Ospina in the 64th minute. This is his second foul for the tournament which would have to mean that he will be sitting the team's next game which is crucial for the team as this is the semi finals.
According to Silva "The yellow card has taken me out of the semi-final, but I know whoever comes into my place is well equipped to fill my boots." He continued "It was a silly thing. I was running back and he put the ball in front of me - there wasn't really much else I could have done."
According to sources, it would most probably be Dante who will fill in the shoes left my Silva as a central defense. There is also another option in line in case they opt not to choose Dante and that would be Napoli defender, Henrique.
Whoever will be chosen to replace Silva in the semi finals would need to step up their game as they would facing Germany in the semis.
