A "Community" movie is possibly in the works and extending the TV series to seven seasons is still possibly depending on the box-office reception of the film.

Zack Van Amburg, spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter about the planned "Community" movie, and how it would be instrumental for them to even consider a seventh season.

Sony TV has a good track record of resuscitating cancelled TV series such as "Drop Dead Diva," which is enjoying its highest ratings in years, as well as "Unforgettable" over at CBS. It also managed to move "Damages" over from FX to DirectTV.

He said: "Let's see how our movie does! Isn't that our plan? There's no way we're not making the movie now. I think once we make the movie, let's look up and decide how much more Community the world wants."

"I'd be lying if I told you that we have not had some very early and preliminary conversations that are very exciting about what a potential movie could be and who might direct it," he added.

Although he couldn't really reveal any details, he said the "Community" movie is "completely in our thought process."

After "Community" was dropped by NBC, even after developing a cult following, the show has been picked up by Yahoo Screen for sixth season, which will comprise 13 episodes, DigitalSpy said.

The "Community" TV series cancellation prompted a social media campaign with the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndaMovie" and also for Netflix to pick up a show, to no avail. Fans also created a "Community" dedicated forum on /r/community and urged fans to flood the Netflix with requests, said Variety.

In a report, executive producer Dan Harmon said that he was very pleased upon learning that Yahoo has ordered for new season of the show.

"I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!" he joked.
