Floyd Mayweather news reveals Mayweather Promotions' success in getting a license to promote their fights in what is considered to be a mecca of boxing, New York City.

In a report by the New York Daily News, the approval of Floyd Mayweather's license to promote in New York may open up a possibility of his next fight, which scheduled for September 13, to be held in the said city.

However, they did clarify that the Mayweather camp has yet to submit a request for the September date.

"To request a date, the promoter would have to submit a Promoter Contest Request Form," state spokesman Edison Alban said about the Floyd Mayweather news. "Mayweather Promotions has not yet formally submitted such a request for the September 13 date."

Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that he has agreed to a rematch against his last opponent, Argentine superstar Marcos Maidana. While only the date has been finalized so far, they have yet to find a venue for the match.

But with the recent developments regarding Floyd Mayweather's license approval in New York, one possible place could be the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn.

Barclay's CEO Brett Yomark, however, is optimistic that the next Floyd Mayweather fight will be held in his arena.

"I think by going for a license he sees the values of hopefully one day fighting in New York," Yormark said about the Floyd Mayweather news. "And I think when he makes that decision at some point I feel very confident that Brooklyn will be that destination at the Barclays Center."

"They haven't made any decision on Sept. 13 and hopefully we'll receive great consideration," he added.

Meanwhile, veteran fight promoter Lou di Bella believes that the reason why Floyd Mayweather has opted for a license in New York is for him to promote his fighters.

He also added that given the tax charges in New York City are heftier than that of Nevada's it might mean more money spent for fights held in "The Big Apple."

"Floyd can afford to do whatever he wants but given the tax implications in New York compared to Nevada, I'd think he's doing it to promote his own fighters or to just keep his options open," di Bella said. "Now, if he doesn't care about the money and he just wants to fight here that's something different.
