More than a year after Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus broke off their engagement, Liam has been heard describing the "powerful connection" he has with his ex and how they will "always be best friends."

The couple had a very intense relationship. They had been together for three years before the split in September 2013. The breakup was said to have been caused by rumored infidelity from Liam's side.

Before they broke up, their relationship seemed really bumpy, with more bad than good times but things took a turn to the end when Miley unfollowed Liam on Twitter. That same day, Liam was seen at Bungalow nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada, putting his flirt on with Mexican singer and actress Eiza Gonzalez. In fact, the two were spotted leaving together at about 2:00 in the morning. Naughty Liam!

Liam was also reported to have been sexting with Mad Men actress January Jones. There were also rumors that the two actually hooked up back in February at an Oscars after-party, when Miley and Liam was still very much together.

Two days after the sexting news, Liam was once again spotted in a club, this time, making out with an unknown brunette while in Toronto.

Now, it seems Liam is regretting all those indiscretions. He was overhead talking with his friends in Portofino, Italy, that despite their breakup, he and Miley continue to have "an instantaneous and powerful connection," and that they would "always be best friends."

He was also heard raving about how amazing Miley was and how they always "clicked and understood everything about each other."

This news is quite the opposite of what has been circulating the web. Recent reports indicated that Liam wasn't at all thinking about Miley and that he wants her to move on.

The two started dating in the set of "The Last Song", where they ironically played each other's first loves.
