Brazil can be a bit violent from time to time, with streets filled with thieves and criminals. Unfortunately, Samsung's factory based in San Pao has become one of the targets of some bandits, losing millions of dollars worth of gadgets.
According to Reuters, the bandits came in armed, and held a number of the employees hostage as they load up truckloads of smartphones, tablets and laptops manufactured by the iconic company. A spokesperson for Samsung gave out a report, explaining how the robbers got away with seven trucks, all been packed of more than 40,000 Samsung products. What's intruiging is that the bandits were able to do everything in just four hours.
You might be wondering how the criminals managed to get away with seven trucks of Samsung gear. Here's the scenario, outlined by the police, revealing a quite detailed scheme of the crime:
The robbers seize a shuttle carrying employees who would do night shift to the factory. The shuttle will be pick up seven members of the band and have total control over the vehicle, transporting eight people in all. Most of the workers onboard were set free, but two others had to walk with the assailants who were by then disguised as workers, down to the factory.
Once inside the facility, the band proceeded to gather the employees currently present at the location. Some of them were held hostage, while others were allowed to continue working. The batteries on their cell phones were taken out, so no one could contact the police outside. After getting rid of anybody who could hinder their, the attackers brought the trucks near the location, so they could start the loading.
This is considered a great loss for Samsung in Brazil, but we can't help but notice it was remarkably easy for the thieves to enter the factory. According to the local media, factory security cameras managed to film the robbers dressed in black with dark hoods over their heads, walking around the factory halls and pushing crates of goods towards their trucks.
