Everything is peachy in the George Clooney Amal Alamuddin engagement, in spite of the couple's different cultural backgrounds; their moms showed a united front bonding in Italy Tuesday.
George must have considered the crucial factor of faith in her marriage with Amal, now put to the test with reports Amal's mother Baria doesn't approve her marrying "outside the faith."
The news shouldn't come as a shock, and in a report for The Daily Mail, Baria explicitly prefers her daughter finding a partner from the Druze community. She's unimpressed with George A-list status and Hollywood credentials.
The reception is entirely different at the Clooney camp, though. George's parents are reportedly ecstatic about the engagement, given the variety of eligibles in Hollywood. The fact that he's actually marrying someone is a source of happiness for the couple.
A blunt comment from a family friend quoted Baria's budding resentment: "Baria is not happy. She thinks Amal can do better. She has been telling half of Beirut, in fact anyone that will listen, there are five hundred thousand Druze. Are none of them good enough for her?"
If Baria had her way, then the George Clooney Amal Alamudding engagement comes at a cost to the "Ocean's 11" actor. There are reports Barria has reached out to George to convince him to convert to Druze, which the latter is unlikely to do.
Amal, a British lawyer with Wikileaks' Julian Assange and Ukraine's former PM Yulia Tymoshenky under her wing of clients, is unlikely to push George to give in to her mother's request, especially for the purpose of holding up family tradition (inquisitr.com).
On the sunnier side of things, Baria was spotted locking arms with George's mother Nina in Italy Sunday, showing no signs of disapproval to the George Clooney Amal Alamuddin engagement. The pair was seen shopping together in the Lake Como area, after spending time with George and Amal aboard a boat a day before.
