"Star Wars Episode VII" cast welcomed newcomers Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson who beat out 67,000 hopefuls to bag the roles. Meanwhile, Harrison Ford's injury will delay production for about two weeks.

According to TIME magazine, "Star Wars Episode VII" cast announcement added the two greenhorns after they were selected by Disney and Lucasfilm "through a massive open call that spanned 11 cities across the U.S. and the U.K. and saw more than 37,000 people attend."

The magazine said that around 30,000 people submitted their applications online for the two roles.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said: "The 'Star Wars' universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition."

"We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film," she added.

Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson will join the rest of the "Star Wars Episode VII" cast Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill who will all reprise their roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.

Other cast include Adam Driver of "Girls," Daisy Ridley of "Blue Season," John Boyega ("Imperial Dreams"), Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, "Game of Thrones" cast Gwendolyn Christie and Max Von Sydow ("Exorcist").

Clarke, studying in Glasgow, is starring in the upcoming feature film The Moon and the Sun. Andersen showed off his parkour skills in a recent Sony ad for Spider-Man.

In a statement by Disney published Sunday, according to Associated Press, "Star Wars Episode VII" will be stopped for two weeks in August due to the Harrison Ford injury.

However, the studio assured that the film is still on pace to be released for its target December 2015 release despite Harrison Ford's injury.
