The house that Phil, Claire, and their kids Hayley, Alex and Luke lives in has just gotten sold for $2.15 million! With the new ownership, will the Dunphy family have to move out as well?
Spoiler alert! The show only uses the exterior of the house but for scenes inside the house, they actually use a sound stage! So, I guess the Dunphy family isn't moving after all.
The Modern Family Dunphy house sold just shy of the $2.35 million asking price. 20th Century Fox pays the owners of the house a fee each time exterior scenes are shot there, and it seems this arrangement will be renewed for the home's new owners- that is, if they agree! But who wouldn't want to be a part of one of the most loved series today? Right?
The sweet 2,792 square foot home sits in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles. It has four bedrooms, four and half baths and a kitchen molded with granite counter tops. It also has the dainty and perfect white picket fence, that we so love watching on Modern Family.
Actually, the other two homes are also situated nearby. Mitch, Cameron and Lily's home is in Century City, while Jay, Gloria and Manny's home is located in Brentwood. Similarly, only the houses' exteriors are used for the show.
The Dumphy house's previous owner, who made the deal with 20th Century Fox, is Paul Chiames. He mentioned that the house has become a mini tourist attraction, with fans coming around to have photos taken.
"Modern Family" won Best Comedy Series last year for the fourth time in a row. And it seems the show may just beat the record set by "Frasier" with five wins in a row. Or will the TV academy tire of this of it as it did with "Mad Men," which claimed the top drama prize for four years running before being shut out of the Emmys? We really hope the former!
