24 year old shooting guard, Gordon Hayward has agreed to the 63 million dollar offer coming from the Charlotte Hornets. The contract will put Hayward on a four year contract with the Hornets which is said to be a maximum contract.

Gordon Daniel Hayward was selected by the Utah Jazz as the ninth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. He has played for Jazz since he was drafted but it seems like he has already decided to jump ship and move his career to the Hornets. He averaged 16.2 points, 5.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds last season.

Hayward has played 72 games during his rookie years with the Jazz, averaging 5.4 points per game and shooting 47 percent from 3-point range. On January 7, 2014, Hayward set a new career-high of 37 points in a win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jazz on the hand ha said before that they will match any offer Hayward received and now, they will have three days for their counter offer or they would be losing Hayward when he signs the contract to the other team.

Reports stated that Hayward made visits both to Charlotte and Cleveland but Michael Jordan's Hornet, made his aggressive move to secure Hayward to their team. Hornet is contemplating on making a major to the east that is why they have been recruiting more talents in order to do so.

Gordon Hayward's agent, Mark Bartelstein, assertively raked the free agent market for a team that can offer a maximum deal for him. Bartelstein met with Cleveland, Phoenix and Boston but finally made a decision to accept Charlottes offer. Many had doubts that the agent can find a suitable suitor that would offer a max contract for Hayward and yet he all proved them wrong.

On the other hand, Hornets needed to improve their lineup for the wing position in order to deliver scores from the wing side. They also need young talents to front line the team. This could be the main reason why Hornets decided to offer a max contract for the 24 year old guard.

This could be a new start for the young Hayward and a new team can mean that he has another opportunity to improve his skills on the court.
