Rosie O'Donnell has been tapped to rejoin "The View" following the untimely exit of Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy this coming August.
However, multiple sources confirmed that O'Donnell agreed to return to the show if only she would be given the option to choose her co-hosts.
O'Donnell has been very vocal on her desire to not work with a host who was once a reality star and that's something ABC Network is considering in order to officially take her on, according to Guardian LV.
The "Now and Then" actress co-hosted "The View" from 2006 to 2007, but later on resigned and breached her contract due to irreconcilable differences with her conservative co-host, Elisabeth Hasselback.
Earlier this year, she returned to "The Voice" not as a host but only as guest. At that time, the liberated host received a standing ovation from the crowd, the same publication confirmed.
Meanwhile, TMZ has confirmed that O'Donnell has already come to an agreement with the show's executives and the network, and will most likely receive a seven-figure salary. Her contract is only set for one year.
An insider told the publication, "The network executives really wanted Rosie back. They're confident she has what it takes to add some controversy and drive the ratings up. It is a smart fit."
As of late, "The View" has only one sure host, Whoopi Goldberg. Back in May, the show's creator and executive producer Barbara Walters resigned from the show but will continue to produce it, FOX News has said.
Earlier this month, Shepherd and McCarthy confirmed they will no longer return next season. As for Shepherd, the host revealed that she couldn't get into an agreement with the executives, and McCarthy, according to "The View," is no longer a perfect fit for the direction they intend to take in the near future.
