Game of Thrones Author George RR Martin is deeply offended by the series' fans expressing doubt on whether he will be able to complete the book series.
The author told Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger that he is pretty offended by the speculation and he even expressed some harsh words to the series' doubting fans. "I find that question pretty offensive, frankly, when people start speculating about my death and my health," he told the publication. "So f*** you to those people."
He does, however, admit that he is slowing down on the writing front. "I have been slowing down. I don't know if it's the fact that I'm getting older - I think it's partly that. But I also think it's partly that the series is so much more successful that there are demands that come with success."
Good news to all die-hard Game of Thrones fans! Martin hinted at a possible GOT movie during his trip to Switzerland. "If we go seven or eight seasons and then [if] the show is still big enough that we can get the $200 million to finance a huge epic movie to end it," he said excitedly.
Martin is in the process of finishing the next instalment in the series The Winds Of Winter, which will be the sixth novel in the fantasy saga. And fans cannot wait to get their hands on it!
Martin also mentioned that all this waiting game could have been avoided if only HBO had waited until he's finished the books before releasing a TV adaptation. When asked about his, Martin replied, "I wish that all the time! That would be so good. I am laying track for a locomotive and it's coming up very fast and in full speed. I look behind me and I can see the smoke, so I better lay that track ..."
