Phillies had a field day as they won over the Brewers last July 9. Phillies pitcher Roberto Hernandez was ahead of game coupled by Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins home run, secured the lead of the team.
It was not a great day for Milwaukee Brewers as two of their talented players were not in the lineup. Ryan Braun had back spasm while Jonathan Lucroy was on day off which made matters worst for the team as they struggled on their offense all game long. This is Brewers fourth loss in a row and their eighth loss in nine games.
According to pitcher, Roberto Hernandez "'I know that (the Brewers) like to swing. The key for the game today, keep the ball down. 'I control every pitch. Groundballs - that is the key to the game." Hernandez just needed 84 pitches to defeat the Brewers.
On the other hand, Brewer's team manager was still optimistic for the team saying "You expect you'll have a tough time somewhere in the season." He added ""I still like what we've done for the three months. We need to bounce out of this thing and get it right back. A hot week or a hot two weeks and we're right back where we were. We need to turn it around though and either get the great pitching performance or bust out and swing the bats well."
Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg was happy with the result of the game "It's very encouraging. It took some patience and some good at-bats and big hits with men on base. Revere and Utley, big hits that drove in a couple of runs and Domonic, too. It was a good offensive night."
When Phillies manager was asked about Hernandez' performance "'It looked like the ball was darting both ways. 'It looked like (the Brewers) were having a hard time gauging him."
Brewers will try to avoid their second sweep of the season this Thursday with a divisional showdown to close down the first half. Brewers were the last team in Baseball to be swept off this season and they desperately need to recover from their loss.
