A Washington man was so excited about the recent marijuana legalization in his city that he took a day off of work and waited for almost a whole day to buy weed.
Although Mike Boyer won the title of being the first one to buy legalized marijuana in his city of Spokane, consequences followed soon after.
After reportedly being spotted on the news by a client of his employer, the security guard was notified that he would need to take a urine test within 24 hours, which he didn't pass. Boyer was allegedly fired from his position, according to The Inquisitr.
"I've worked for them on and off for 12 years and several years ago, I signed a document that said I wouldn't have (THC) in my system. I don't smoke at work!" stated Boyer.
He continued, "It's the first day, who's not gonna run down? People who hadn't smoked since the '70s and '80s were coming down just to be there. It was the day of days."
Despite his reported termination, Mike Boyer finds more importance in the fact that he was the first to purchase legal weed in his area.
"I don't regret it. I'm sad it happened but I got the title: I'm No. 1. I regret nothing," Boyer told the NY Daily News on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old did state a balance of boundaries is highly necessary after the recent legalization of marijuana.
"It's something we're going to need to figure out with this whole legalization, where's going to be the grey line," stated Boyer.
