The Bridge, which airs on FX is the American version of the wildly popular Swedish/Danish crime drama. It has won two Golden Nymph Awards for Best European Drama Series, and Best Actor in a Drama Series for its star Kim Bodnia.

The show stars the talented Diane Kruger (Inglorious Basterds) as the socially inept American detective Sonya Cross, who has Asperger's syndrome. Oscar nominee Demian Bichir (Weeds) as a Mexican police officer. Together, the unlikely team try to track down an international serial killer.

The show has bagged the prestigious Peabody Award and has recently premiered its second season.

It is still gaining popularity in America, but Vanity Fair has already drawn parallels between The Bridge and the critically-acclaimed Breaking Bad.

Kruger recently gave an interview about what to expect for the show's second season. Among other things, a new show runner will be taking over the helm.

Producer Elwood Reid has said that he intends to keep the authenticity of the show by having the Mexican actors speak in their language.

"I don't ever want someone to watch my show and go, 'Why the hell are they speaking English here when it's two Mexican characters in Mexico?'" Elwood has said in an interview with TIME magazine.

Another thing that Reid brings to the show is a bit of a darker them.

The actress told TV Line, "His vision for the show is darker, for sure, but also more complex. There are many different storylines that sort of happen at the same time and seemingly are not connected."

"Sonya has reason to believe that Marco is compromised, and she distrusts him quite a bit," Diane added. "Theres a big fallout over whether she or not she believes that he's taken too many steps into the darkness."

The Bridge just began its second season on FX.
