Cat Zingano Returns to UFC via fight against Amanda Nunes

After almost a year and a half, Cat Zingano is finally making her return inside the octagon through a fight at UFC 178 on Sept 28. UFC officials announced her return last Thursday. Zingao will be facing Amanda Nunes, one of the quickly rising stars in the bantamweight division of UFC.

Zingao fought Miesha Tate on February 2013 in the second women's match in UFC history. The match was held at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in which Zingano defeated Tate by TKO in the third round.

Because of her win, Zingano was set to become a coach on The Ultimate Fighter 18 against Ronda Rousey and be the next challenger for the UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship. But on May 28, Zingano's reps announced that she won't be able to continue her UFC stint as she had suffered a knee injury earlier in the month which required surgery. She was then replaced by Tate.

Aside from her injury, she also suffered emotionally as her husband, Mauricio Zingano, passed away last January by taking his own life.

Zingao, who managed to clench her clean MMA record with 8 wins with no losses, is looking forward to seeing Ronda Rousey in the octagon. But before she would be able to do that, she would still need to test her untarnished record through a fight with the rising Brazilian fighter.

Nunes on the other hand has a total of 12 MMA fights. She has 9 wins with 3 losses. While her record in UFC stands 2 wins with no losses. Both wins came from victories over Sheila Gaff and Germaine de Randamie. Nunes will definitely up her career when she faces Zingano in their match.

Based on official rankings, Zingano is ranked No 1 while Nunes is at the 8th place. This is based on current UFC women's bantamweight rankings. Zingano and Nunes will face each other at UFC 178 at the MGM Grand Garden.UFC 178 will also be headlined by light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson as well as the return of former champion Dominick Cruz against Takeya Mizugaki. On the pay per view card, Tim Kennedy will face Yoel Romero.
