Joy Behar has slammed Elisabeth Hasselbeck for complaining over Rosie O'Donnell's return on "The View."
On Wednesday, Hasselbeck expressed her dismay over ABC Network's decision to rehire O'Donnell, who once hosted the show along with her, several years back, according to Mercury News.
"I think this has been in the works for a long time. I know Rosie very well. We worked quite closely. Talk about not securing the border! Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there, coming back with a bunch of control ready to regain a seat at The Voice," Hasselbeck said during an episode of "Fox & Friends."
Now, Behar, who happens to be a good friend of O'Donnell defended the latter following Hasselbeck's controversial statements.
On Wednesday, Behar sat down with CNN's Don Lemon and said, "I thought that was really kind of below the belt to say O'Donnell spits in the face of the military. I would like Elisabeth to explain herself. What does she mean by that? And isn't it kind of a nasty thing to say about somebody who basically is a good person? That's a dangerous thing to say about somebody. I think it's a hate-filled remark," The Wrap reported.
Behar also explained that one of O'Donnell's sons is a student at The Citadel, a military academy, which meant insinuating that O'Donnell hated the military was "a dangerous thing to say," according the NY Daily News.
Meanwhile, O'Donnell also defended herself from Hasselbeck's low blow and wrote on Twitter, "excellent comment - Hasselbeck was hiding in her dressing room - til I walked right in and said hello - her reply LETS TAKE A SELFIE!!!"
In another tweet, O'Donnell wrote, "think she has donated any money to the armed services???? Hmmmm."
