"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was snubbed from the 2014 Emmy nominations after winning the Best Comedy plum from the Golden Globes, except for one consolation prize as cast Andre Braugher was cited for his portrayal of the gay chief, Captain Raymond Holt.
The "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" snub came in the wake of its big win from the Golden Globes which cited the show for Best Comedy and its lead, former SNL host Adam Samberg, for Best Actor in Comedy, said HeadlinePlanet.
The 2014 Emmy nominations for Oustanding Comedy Series included "Orange is the New Black," "Veep," "Silicon Valley," "Modern Family," "Louie," and "The Big Bang Theory."
For Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, the nominations are Matt LeBlanc for "Episodes," Louis CK for "Louie," William H. Macy for "Shameless," Ricky Gervais for "Derek," Jim Parsons for "The Big Bang Theory" and Don Cheadle for "House of Lies."
However, the "Brookly Nine-Nine" snub wasn't totally complete as cast Andre Braugher was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Speaking to TVLine, Andre Braugher spoke about being included in the 2014 Emmy nominations and the apparent "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" snub.
"Globes voters have an entirely different perspective and mandate than the Emmys. I didn't think the Golden Globe recognition would be repeated by the Emmys," he said. Historically, if this show is lucky enough to survive for a third and fourth season, there'll be many more opportunitues for Emmy nominations - especially because Mike and Dan have such a great track record of creating this world of the loveable goofball."
Andre Braugher already received eight Emmy nominations for different shows, including "Gideon's Crossing," "Homicide: Life on the Street," "Men of Certain Age," and now for "
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
"I've been a very fortunate man, and I'm the first to acknowledge that. I strive hard to succeed - not in an overt manner of being a celebrity, but in being the finest actor I can be," he said.
