Croatia and Mexico challenged Brazil in a group match. The situation even got more complicated as Neymar missed playing in the team after sustaining a foul injury. Scolari was disappointed as he had no control over the situation.
Scolari has reportedly said this with regards to Neymar's unexpected absence:
""He has done his share"
"Now it's up to us to do our share. This match we'll be playing not just for ourselves but for our country, for everything we've ever dreamed of, but also for Neymar and everything he's done for us. Within our group, we've accepted that. We've left our sad phase behind and we're focusing on other things."
Brazil followed Spain and Portugal in failing in the group matches. History showed that such failure in the group matches may be traced to lack of competency in coaching players uniquely. Without Neymar, Brazil faces the challenge of being flexible in adjusting the way they tackle their opponent for the rest of the tournament.
Brazil will need to conduct more thorough training sessions. The team will need to pay closer attention on the weaknesses of each of their player. Doing so will give them the opportunity to tweak each player's flaws, which may hinder attracting success in the long run.
Brazil will need to train in a united way. Doing so ensures that the setback one player has will be compensated by one or all of the other players in the team. It is up to their coach, Scolari, to find a way on how to implement this strategic training plan.
