Henry Cavill girlfriend Gina Carano is set to meet with UFC President Dana White and UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta according to ESPN. Reportedly, they are anticipating adding Carano to the UFC roster next week as they sit with the former Strikeforce champ in Los Angeles.
"One down, one to go," White told ESPN. "I'm going to meet with Gina next week and get that f***ing thing done. Next week, man. It's just a matter of me and Lorenzo going to jump on a plane to Los Angeles, get in a room with her and her lawyer and get this thing done."
Yahoo Sports reported that even Carano has been out from MMA since 2009, a bout with her is allegedly interesting that it would most likely make the "biggest-money fight the UFC can put on any time soon." ESPN reported that a bantamweight title fight with defending champion Ronda Rousey would mean big business for the UFC.
Ronda Rousey publicly asserts that a match with Carano is "something that she has wanted since the first time she laid eyes on the sport."
"The first women's MMA fight I ever saw was Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie," Rousey said. "Not only did I admire what [Carano] was doing, but also I was blown away by the reaction all the guys were giving them, and, I just remember sitting there and thinking, 'I could totally beat both of these chicks.' Whether she ever wants to fight again or not is entirely up to her. But, ever since that day when I had that first taste of women's MMA, she's the fight I wanted."
UFC President Dana White has been vocal about the roadblocks in negotiating with Carano. According to Wrestling Inc, earlier this year, the UFC appeared confident to sign Carano but recently report says that might not be the case.
White made it clear that the swoop in signing Carano has nothing to do with her need to compete. "It all comes down to finalising details in a new contract."
"There is no doubt about it, she wants to fight," White said. "And she wants to fight Ronda."
