NBA superstar, LeBron James, got swarmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil by kids as he arrived the city, wearing a light blue shirt and grey shorts. Some posed for a few pictures and even exchanged high fives as he proceed a 10-minute Q&A with a Nike representative.
As a big soccer fan, James said that he is excited to see the final gme live as he watch the previous part of the tournament from home. In fact, James is a part-owner in Liverpool.
"The excitement around football, the excitement around the world." James said. "It brings everybody into the sport, and I'm happy to be a part of the excitement now that I'm here." LeBron's travel to Brazil is his first appearance since he announced his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When asked which team will get hold of the championship, James said that it's a toss-up between who's better, Lionel Messi or Neymar. He can't say whether Germany or Argentina would win the World Cup final.
"I think Germany has the better overall team. Argentina has one of the best players in the world, if not the best, with Messi," James said Saturday night during an appearance at Nike's "Casa Phenomenal." "That's why they play the game. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
James announced Friday afternoon that he is going back to his hometown after four years and two title wins with the Miami Heat astound the world of sports. He announced his decision in a Sports Illustrated essay. James even called it an "exciting time" during the Q&A Nike appearance. He then left for Rio in time for the World Cup final game.
He also added that it reunites him with "one of my favorite teammates," Brazil native Anderson Varejao, who accompanied James at Nike's interactive showcase.
The warehouse-like space is open every Saturday to local children, who come to play soccer, basketball and video games, as well as to meet and greet some of their favorite athletes.
