Argentineans have set out to take on the host team in the final round of the World Cup this year. The fans have set up camp in the Brazilian city's Sambadrome. 18,000 people are expected to fill in on the grandstand for Rio's carnival parade annually. Most of the seats were filled by Argentineans who wish to play significant roles in the opening parade.
The invasion of Brazil's rivals is beginning to come as 100,000 Argentinean fans rush to the watch the match live. The biggest conflict in the spectator atmosphere was the conflicting debacle between Brazil and Argentina fans.
However, the mood has now calmed down into a rapport oriented competitive spirit. The dominant moods have been those of nervousness and excitement among the competing fans.
A fan from Buenos Aires, who travelled all the way to Rio for the tournament, commented:
"We came here before the semi-final. We drove to São Paulo and then here. It took two days to get to São Paulo and then another day to get here,"
"There are a lot of big trucks on the highway. But it was worth it."
Another fan, Fabricio from Cordoba, has taken interest on the tournament by travelling to Rio after the quarter-final.
When asked what attracted him to make it to the match, he said:
"The atmosphere is amazing. The people from Brazil are very nice. We are noisy and we chant but the Brazilian people have been welcoming,"
"The government of Rio has given us these facilities, which is great."
