While we're waiting for the iPhone 6 to be released, there are new details coming in about the sapphire glass. In the previous report, we shared info on why Apple decided to use such material instead of the Gorilla Glass display from Corning, which they used in the previous iPhones.

The durability of the iPhone 5s was indeed very impressive, as it doesn't get scratched right away and could even survived the drop test. However, the future 4.7 inch diagonal display of the next-gen iPhone 6 proves to be even harder to break. As a matter of fact, the sapphire coated glass can withstand a lot of scratching, stabbing, pounding, bending, twisting, as well as burning.

One Asian team put the sapphire front panel to the test, and they were very satisfied with the results. The stress test, as shown in the video, begins by scratching the glass with a coin and then a door key.No scratch marks was seen on the surface, so they test the sapphire glass panel's durability with a blade a hammer and, and a nail. Again, there are no marks left on the panel's surface. The sapphire glass panel has also undergone a drop test of at least five feet, but it was still intact as it hits the floor.

The Asian team also tried bending and twisting the panel to almost 90 degrees repeatedly without leaving a mark. Although the sapphire glass panel displays a lot of flexibility, this doesn't mean that the phone would be as flexible. They even tried to burn the panel, with the soot building up on the surface. That , however, was wiped off easily.

As for the ultimate test, the team placed the sapphire panel on the floor and have a 3-ton car run over it. The weight of the car, however, was too much that the sapphire glass panel becomes shattered.

The sapphire glass panel is definitely the sturdiest material Apple has ever used on their iPhones by far. iPhone 6 comes out with this durable screen at the end of September.
