Cannabis City Runs Out of Marijuana; Cannabis City Customers Have to Wait for Store Re-Opening on July 21

Cannabis City of Seattle runs out of marijuana. It is Seattle's first and only shop that sells recreational marijuana, but unfortunately, had to close on Friday. It ran out of stock in as short as three days, since Washington became the 2nd American state to permit pot sales to today's adults.

Cannabis City actually opened in Seattle just on Tuesday. On its opening day, it had at least 10 pounds or 4.5 kilos of recreational marijuana in store. However, its management had to close the shop by Thursday, since the shop's 10-pound initial inventory was wiped clean. The shop has recorded a message on their phone line, and according to the recording, Cannabis City will be re-opening on the 21st of July.

At present, there are widespread issues that indicate how the pot shortage could largely affect retailers this week, especially after the state has issued its 1st 25 licenses to certain outlets. This was under a heavily regulated and taxed system that was approved by the voters in November of 2012. Several store owners have planned to limit the amount of weed that each customer can purchase in order to try to make the stocks last.

Amber McGowan, the manager of Cannabis City, informed Reuters on Thursday that the store is most likely not able to have adequate marijuana inventory to stay open for all of the shop's regular business transactions, that is, until a delivery that has been scheduled next week. She said that the shop was only able to keep open as they have actually been limiting clients to a 0.2-ounce purchase, instead of the legal limit of 1 ounce per purchase.

The progress of pot sales in Washington has recently been slow, which could be one factor why sales in Cannabis City consistently spike. However, the state regulators' processing of over 300 license applications is still underway. Also, pot growers in Washington have produced only limited harvests thus far.
