A "Game of Thrones" movie is not in the works even if author George R. R. Martin suggested it could be done. Meanwhile, cast Sophie Turner and The Vamps guitarist James McVey's romance is reportedly very real.
Michael Lombardo, HBO president of programming, was asked about the possiblity of a "Game of Thrones" movie during a talk with the press at the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills.
"There's no conversation going on about a movie," he said, according to the Escapist magazine.
Earlier, George R. R. Martin, whose "A Song of Fire and Ice" books became the basis for the HBO series, told ScreenDaily that there' s a possibility that a "Game of Thrones" movie will be made.
"If we go seven or eight seasons and then [if] the show is still big enough that we can get the $200million to finance a huge epic movie to end it," he said.
When prodded about the "Winds of Winter" release date, George R. R. Martin admitted that he has been slowing down. "I don't know if it's the fact that I'm getting older - I think it's partly that but I also think it's partly that the series is so much more successful that there's demands that come with success."
However, HBO chairman Richard Pepler said during the same event that the author is totally focused on the books and the "Game of Thrones" TV series, "and has only held out the movie concept as something way down the road."
Meanwhile, UK's Mirror reported the Sophie Turner and The Vamps guitarist James McVey's romance as it said that the two have been trying to make their relationship low key. However, Instagram shows the couple on "super-sweet pictures of them enjoying dates."
A source also confirmed Sophie Turner and The Vamps guitarist James McVey's romance to the Sun: "It's still early days. She has just really broken into the big time through Game of Thrones and James and his band are constantly travelling to gigs."
