New updates for the Spider-Man spin off , Venom have been revealed regarding the cast of the movie.

A new rumor has surfaced that Flash Thompson's version of Venom will be used in the spin-off instead of the original Venom, Eddie Brock.

According to reports from ComcBook.com, Sony plans on using Flash Thompson as the titular character to give audiences a new perspective of the character in the Amazing Spider-Man movie universe, favoring him over the Eddie Brock. However, the producers of the film felt that it could become another huge controversy considering that Eddie Brock has established the Venom persona more than Flash Thompson.

The Venom spin-off producers and Sony had already made some controversies before regarding the Carnage casting and would likely do the same with Venom as well.

ComicBookMovie.com reports that Chris Zylka, who played Flash Thompson is in talks with the producers of the film. So far there has been no confirmation as of yet regarding his participation in the movie.

Meanwhile, Amazing Spider-Man 2 writer Roberto Orci is reportedly not involved in AMS 3.

IGN has reported that Orci has left the movie to concentrate on making the script and possibly directing Star Trek 3.

Orci and co-writer Alex Kurtzman were supposed to write the script for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and many fans are wondering what will happen to the third movie now that he is gone.

Orci made a statement regarding the future of the Amazing Spider-Man 3 and its possible spin-offs.

"I don't know what their plans are for that franchise," Orci said when asked about his continued involvement. "I don't ever want to say never, but we have to figure out what their scheduling is in terms of when they want each movie. I've read probably as much as anyone else. There's a love for the Sinister Six, the idea of Venom -- there's an idea of Spider-Man's going to be one of these characters that's part of our business. He's such a popular character. Spider-Man's not going to go away any time soon. When it all happens and how and all that has yet to be determined."

He further adds,

"I don't want to say anything about what they should do," the writer said. "I don't want them to think I'm spilling the beans about something."
