Selena Gomez has slammed one of her followers on Instagram after the fan left an offensive comment about cancer on one of the singer's photos.

Last week, one of Gomez's followers commented negatively on one of her photos and said that she wishes the "Come & Get It" singer will become beautiful and that her entire family gets cancer, according to Business Standard.

The 21-year-old former "Barney & Friends" actress responded to her bashed and wrote via Instagram, "Honestly, I don't speak up much because it's simply always taken out of context. But I don't take bullying well. I have seen too much not to say anything."

Gomez continued, "The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman. I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart. You won't be winning anyone's heart that way. Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more. God bless love. Be an amazing woman. You're beautiful."

The "Love You Like a Love Song" singer won the hearts of her millions of fans, who responded positively to her post. As of late, Gomez's message has also received more than 500,000 likes on Instagram, Xpose Entertainment confirmed.

Meanwhile, last week, Gomez posted a series of photographs on Instagram, including one controversial text message that fans and critics assumed to have been from her on-and-off boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

In the photo, Gomez screenshot the text message that read, "I just wanna give you a hug and remind you how special you are." The singer captioned the photo and wrote, "That's who you wanna wake up to. #promise."

Although there was no explanation as to who sent the singer that cryptic text message, Gomez made sure to keep her fans speculating, especially with her most recent whereabouts with the "Boyfriend" singer, according to the Huffington Post.
