Another anticipated decision has finally been made and that is Carmelo Anthony's team of choice this coming season. Anthony has always wanted to be a Knicks. He said this a few years back and it seemed like things have not changed. He announced his decision through his own webpage post "My City, My Heart."

According to Anthony "this organization has supported me and in return, I want to stay and build here with this city and my team."

He was cordial to all the team who show interest in his talent during his free agent moments. He said "During this journey I met with some quality organizations who have amazing talent and leadership. I thank them for their consideration, belief in my talent, and opportunity to imagine the possibilities."

New York Knicks is willing to pay Melo with a five year $130 million contract but according to him, he is willing to take on less salary if it means Knicks can build a winning team. If it means getting a lower than max salary, then Melo is willing to take it.

Anthony wants to compete in the Championship and he believes that by hiring Phil Jackson as the Knicks president, he can turn the team into a winner with his coaching skills and experience. Anthony is eager to work with Jackson saying "I am looking forward to continue my career in Orange & Blue and to work with Phil Jackson, a champion who builds championship teams."

According to Jackson "After three months of questions around Carmelo Anthony's return to the NY Knicks, we are now happy to know that we have the cornerstone of what we envision as a 'team of excellence. (General manager) Steve Mills and I have assured Carmelo through our conversations, that we share the vision and the determination to build this team."

Anthony met with a couple of prominent teams including Chicago, Houston, Dallas and the Lakers. This was when he finally decided to terminate his existing contract and decided to become a free agent. But in the end, his heart never wavered "'I will always remember this chapter in my life. In the end, I am a New York Knick at heart."
