Radiohead will be heading to the recording studios to begin work on their ninth studio album, according to a report from Billboard.com

The band's guitarist Jonny Greenwood, who was a guest at Mary Anne Hobbe's BBC 6 Music show on July 2 elaborated that the band will start their recording sessions in September. "We're going to start up in September, playing, rehearsing, and recording and see how it's sounding."

The Radiohead Album 2014 will mark the first time the band will get together for an album since the release of their 2011 "The King of Limbs." The band members have been devoting their time with their respective solo endeavors since.

Among the projects that resulted from Radiohead's individual projects include lead singer Thom Yorke's album with his own band Atoms for Peace, Jonny Greenwood's scoring of the 2012 movie The Master by Paul Thomas Anderson, plus another upcoming one called Inherent Vice. Meanwhile, Radiohead's drummer Phil Selway will be releasing his own second solo album this October.

A previous announcement from Greenwood stated that Radiohead would be meeting by the end of summer to record an album together. "But, you know, we're a slow-moving animal, always have been," the guitarist said. "I guess we'll decide the what to do next."

The band is of course best known for their debut single, "Creep." It did not do well initially when it was first released in 1992. After several months, and with the release of their debut album Pablo Honey in 1993, the song gained traction, and catapulted the English rock band to fame.

With their second album "The Bends" in 1995, Radiohead became a household name in the United Kingdom. But it was their third offering, 1997's "OK Computer" that brought Radiohead worldwide acclaim. The band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and Rolling Stone magazine included them on their 2005 list of "The Greatest Artist of All Time."
