Lionsgate Pictures will be producing a movie based on one survivor's story of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Jeff Bauman's book, "Stronger," tells the story of how the young man was waiting for his girlfriend to finish the race when the infamous bomb exploded. Bauman lost both of his legs to the tragedy, and the book traces his journey towards acceptance and eventual triumph. Bauman wrote the book, which is co-authored by Bret Whitter, who is a bestselling writer.

A shocked and bloodied Bauman was actually captured in a photo by the Associated Press as he was being taken away from the Boston Marathon bombing site. The survivor was later able to help the police capture the suspect with a description of one of the two brothers accused of planting the bomb.

The Hollywood Reporter said that the film production company closed the deal to bring the book to the silver screen, and will have Madeville Films produce it.

Three of the big names behind the film The Fighter, which was nominated for several Oscars are on board in the production of this Boston Marathon bombing movie.

Todd Lieberman and David Hobermanare set to produce the film. Scott Silver, the screenwriter of The Fighter and 8 Mile, will also be producing. Meanwhile, actor John Pollono will be adapting the book into a screenplay, marking his first full-length film screenwriting duties.

The Boston Marathon Bombing happened on April 15, 2014. Two pressure cooker bombs were set off just moments apart from each other just as participants in the popular marathon were crossing the finish line. Three people died because of the bombing, but more than 260 were injured.

A manhunt for one of the suspects, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev took place, and he was caught four days later. The other suspect, Tamerlan, who is also his brother was killed in an exchange of gunfire with the police.
